Impact of the Internet on the 2008 Presidential Campaign
Results from the third annual Netpop tracking study are now available, with special coverage of the 2008 election. Netpop|Vote includes interviews with 3581 broadband users in the U.S. You will find some unique Internet-related insights on supporters of McCain and Obama:
- The Internet is helping Obama win-over more voters than McCain (20% vs. 9%)
- Email is the killer-app of this election – 37% use email to learn about the candidates, compared with online videos (10%) and social networking sites (6%)
- The Culture Wars are real: You are more likely to find Obama voters enjoying theater, museums, music, magazines and yoga, while McCain voters enjoy fishing, football, religion/spirituality and NASCAR
- Obama-supporters enjoy comedy more (must be Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin on SNL!)
- McCain supporters are less tech-savvy
